In the 18th century – Catherine II, in the 21st century – MCS students.
This year, the MCS prom ball will be held in the Petrovskiy Putevoi Palace – an example of Russian neo-Gothic architecture, built in 1776-1780 by order of Catherine II in honor of the successful completion of the Russo-Turkish War.
It was a residence for noble persons after a long journey from St.Petersburg to Moscow. Catherine II stayed here twice: she spent four days at the palace on her way from Novgorod in 1785 and ten days on her way from Crimea in 1787.
Putevoi Palace is mentioned in Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin.
“There is nothing better in all of Moscow and its environs,” Vissarion Belinsky wrote about this place.
And here will be our prom ball in June 2025!
