The Russian programme at the school is designed to ensure that students are confidently and systematically prepared for all forms of state assessment — VPR, interim assessments, OGE, EGE, and the receipt of the state certificate — while maintaining interest in learning and developing independent thinking skills.
Teaching across all subjects combines the academic rigour of federal educational standards with modern educational approaches: independent and group work, project-based learning, research tasks, presentations using information technology, as well as educational excursions and meetings with guest speakers. This approach allows students not only to "know the material" but to understand it deeply and apply it effectively in examination formats.
Mathematics (L. G. Peterson Programme)
Mathematics is taught using the strong developmental programme by L. G. Peterson, aimed at developing logical, analytical, and systemic thinking. The programme follows the principle "from understanding to action": students do not memorise algorithms mechanically but learn methods of reasoning and problem-solving.
The programme includes:
• step-by-step development of mathematical thinking;
• work with non-standard and Olympiad-style problems;
• the ability to explain reasoning and justify solutions;
• development of strong calculation skills and mathematical literacy.
The Peterson programme provides a solid foundation for further study of algebra and geometry and ensures a high level of readiness for VPR, OGE, and EGE, including advanced-level tasks.
Preparation for VPR, OGE, and EGE
Exam preparation begins well in advance and follows a structured approach:
• systematic mastery of codifiers and Federal State Educational Standards requirements;
• regular practice with VPR, OGE, and EGE formats;
• diagnostic and mock tests;
• analysis of typical mistakes and individual gap correction;
• development of self-checking skills, work with answer sheets, and time management.
This approach significantly reduces exam stress and builds students' confidence.
Students successfully complete attestation assessments, including VPR in Mathematics, Russian language, and randomly selected subjects, demonstrating stable results across varying levels of difficulty.
Russian Language and Literature
Russian language and literature are taught as tools for thinking and self-expression. From Year 1, literature is studied within the integrated subject "Literature and Theatre," where students learn to analyse texts, understand authorial intent, express opinions with justification, and work confidently with spoken and written language.
Practical-Oriented Modules
Extended practical modules — experimental science, design and modelling, musical composition and improvisation, and culinary school — develop interdisciplinary links, responsibility, discipline, and the ability to complete tasks to a high standard. These skills directly contribute to academic success and exam readiness.
State Certification and Graduation DocumentsAfter completing Grade 9 (Year 11), MCS students receive three official documents:1. State Certificate of Basic General EducationThis certificate is issued in
two formats:
- Blue (purple) — for students with standard academic performance.
- Red (Honours Certificate) — for students who graduate with distinction (all final grades are "excellent," or no more than two "good" grades, combined with high OGE exam results).
The certificate includes:
- final annual grades for the last academic year (for subjects chosen as additional OGE subjects, the certificate records the average of the annual grade and the exam result);
- final OGE examination scores.
2. Certificate of Completion (MCS School)The
Certificate of Completion confirms successful completion of the MCS School programme.
It signifies a high level of achievement in both the
Russian and British curricula, as well as the development of
critical thinking, responsibility, emotional intelligence, and other competencies essential for effective communication and future success.
3. Pearson Edexcel International or LRN GCSE CertificateThe
IGCSE certificate is internationally recognised as the
standard qualification for completion of secondary education in the United Kingdom.
Here is a
clear, formal English translation, suitable for an admissions brochure or school website:
After completing Grade 11 (Year 13), MCS graduates receive several official documents:1. State Certificate of Secondary General (Complete) EducationThis certificate includes:
- all subjects studied in Grades 10−11;
- Unified State Exam (EGE) results in compulsory subjects.
The certificate grants the right to apply to
higher education institutions, may be required for
employment, and, with a high overall average, may provide access to
scholarships or preferential study conditions.
2. MCS High School DiplomaThe
MCS High School Diploma confirms completion of the MCS School programme in
Grades 10−11.
It signifies a high level of achievement in both the
Russian and British curricula and facilitates admission to
international universities, regardless of their ranking or location.
The diploma also confirms the development of
critical thinking, responsibility, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work with
multiple sources of information.
3. Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level (IAL)The
Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level (IAL) is the
standard British pre-university qualification, allowing graduates to apply to
universities worldwide.
Academic Medals for Outstanding AchievementGraduates of Grade 11 may also be awarded
Gold or Silver Medals "For Outstanding Academic Achievement" (Level I and II).
Gold Medal requirements- All final grades in all subjects must be "excellent." If even one subject is graded as "good," the medal is not awarded.
- Minimum EGE scores:
- Russian Language — at least 70 points
- Profile-level Mathematics — at least 70 points
- (Both exams are compulsory; basic-level mathematics does not qualify.)
- A pass in the final essay/presentation. Without a pass, the medal is not awarded, even with excellent grades and high EGE results.
Silver Medal requirements- No more than two "good" grades; all other subjects must be graded as "excellent."
- EGE exams passed with a minimum score of 60 points.
Regional (Moscow) MedalIn Moscow, graduates may also receive the
Regional Medal "For Outstanding Academic Achievement."It may be awarded to:
- winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian School Olympiad;
- graduates who scored 100 points in an EGE subject;
- students who achieved excellent results in all subjects and scored at least 220 points across three exams.
University Admission BenefitsHolders of federal or Moscow academic medals may receive
additional admission points when applying to universities. Typically,
2−3 extra points are added to the EGE score.
